Supercapacitor cabinet
The supercapacitor cabinet buffers the high-current pulses required to actuate the keel, so the boat batteries only see a smooth, configurable charging current.
Operation
When the front switch is set to ON, the cabinet starts immediately. It charges the supercapacitor bank up to 31 V while drawing a maximum current configurable in two ways:
- If the cabinet is connected to the KEEL Management central, the limit programmed via the façades (
I Chgparameter) is used. - Otherwise, the limit set by the internal rotary selector is used.
When the charger starts (or when the limit changes), the actual charging current is ramped in steps every 2 seconds until it reaches the target value. The same ramp logic applies on a decrease — for example when communication with the central is lost.
Selector vs façade priority
The façade-programmed limit can be changed at any moment and is applied immediately. The selector value, however, is only re-read after an OFF/ON cycle on the front switch.
Internal current selector
| Selector position | Current limit |
|---|---|
0 | 60 A |
1 | 50 A |
2 | 40 A |
3 | 30 A |
4 | 20 A |
5 | 15 A |
6 | 10 A |
7 | 5 A |
8 | unused |
9 | unused |
Front-panel LEDs

The cabinet exposes 5 status LEDs. The same Charger Status and CapaLow LEDs are mirrored on the façades.
Charger Status (blue)
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Solid on | Charger running |
| Blinking 2 Hz | Charger off |
On the façade, the same LED stays solid while the charger is on, then flickers 10 times rapidly at the end of charge before turning off.
CapaLow (orange)
Reports the supercapacitor voltage and acts as a movement-blocking signal:

| Voltage band | LED state | CapaLow signal |
|---|---|---|
| Below 18 V | Blinks at 2 Hz | ON |
| 18 V → 22 V (rising) | Blinks at 2 Hz | ON |
| Above 22 V | Solid on | OFF |
| Above 32 V (over voltage) | Blinks at 4 Hz | ON |
Movement blocking
While CapaLow is ON, all keel movements are blocked except Release. This protects the hydraulic group motor from running on a depleted bank. The signal is also forced ON if the charger is faulted (high voltage, over temperature, …) but still able to communicate.
Charge-current limit LEDs (MAXI / MED / MIN)
The three rightmost LEDs encode the current limit currently in effect:
I MAX | I MED | I MIN | Current limit |
|---|---|---|---|
OFF | OFF | BLINK | 5 A |
OFF | OFF | ON | 10 A |
OFF | /BLINK | BLINK | 15 A |
OFF | BLINK | OFF | 20 A |
OFF | ON | OFF | 30 A |
/BLINK | BLINK | OFF | 40 A |
BLINK | OFF | OFF | 50 A |
ON | OFF | OFF | 60 A |
Fault behaviour
| Fault | LED behaviour |
|---|---|
| Over voltage | Charge (blue) off, Capa (orange) blinks rapidly |
| Over temperature | Charge blinks rapidly, Capa blinks rapidly |
Switch in OFF | All LEDs off |
