Aquabase gateway (010010020) — Overview
This firmware makes an Aquabase watermaker part of the MUXEN boat.
The Aquabase unit has its own controller and its own panel, and it puts everything it knows on its own CAN bus: what the machine is doing right now, the reading of each of its sensors, the position of its valves, the state of its pumps and their breakers, the hour meter, and the fault code when it stops.
This gateway listens to that bus and republishes all of it as one MUXEN watermaker device. From the boat's point of view there is a watermaker on the MUXEN bus that reports its mode, its salinity, its production flow, its three pressures and its running hours — and that can be started, stopped and rinsed from any MUXEN screen.
The translation works both ways. A command sent from a MUXEN screen to that device — produce, rinse, stand by — is turned into the Aquabase command that the unit's own controller obeys, exactly as if the button had been pressed on the machine's own panel.
Faults are carried across too: when the unit reports a fault code, the gateway raises the matching MUXEN alarm, and clears it when the unit says the fault is gone.
What it is not
- It does not replace the Aquabase controller. The unit keeps running, protecting and stopping itself on its own; the gateway watches and translates.
- It does not commission the watermaker. Membrane cleaning cycles, automatic rinsing programming and the auto-stop settings are done on the Aquabase side — the boat can only start, stop and rinse.
- It publishes nothing while the unit is silent. A watermaker that is switched off at its own breaker simply disappears from the boat's screens; see Common mistakes — Aquabase gateway.
