Frigomar gateway (010010019) — Overview
This firmware makes Frigomar air-conditioning units part of the MUXEN boat.
A Frigomar unit keeps its own controller and its own cabin panel, and that panel can be read and written over a Modbus serial link: the cabin temperature it measures, the set point it is holding, the mode it is in, the fan speed, whether the compressor is running, and the fault and alarm words its power module reports.
This gateway polls that link and republishes each unit as one MUXEN HVAC device. One box serves up to four units, one per serial channel. From the boat's point of view there are four air conditioners on the MUXEN bus, each reporting its cabin temperature, its set point, its mode, its fan speed and whether it is running.
It commands the units
Read this before wiring anything. This gateway does not only watch:
- From a MUXEN screen it switches a unit on or off and writes its temperature set point, exactly as if the buttons had been pressed on the cabin panel.
- By itself, in automatic mode, it switches a unit off when the battery park it is bound to reports that the boat cannot afford it — overload, low battery, or a state of charge below
MinSocToWork. It does not switch it back on when the battery recovers; that is a deliberate manual action. - From a switch anywhere on the MUXEN bus. Each channel can be given a logic expression (
RemoteCmdEqn) built from signals seen on the MUXEN bus — a Bloc 8 input, a Scheiber switch, a relay. Every time that expression goes true, the unit toggles on/off, like a wall switch.
Sending an explicit on or off command from the boat disables the automatic battery cut-off for that unit until an auto command is sent. See Commissioning.
What it is not
- It does not replace the Frigomar controller. The unit keeps its own panel, its own protections and its own compressor management; the gateway reads it and asks it for two things.
- It commands on/off and set point only. Operating mode, fan speed, sensor selection and the panel settings are read but never written — choose them on the unit's own panel.
- It publishes nothing for a unit that does not answer. A unit switched off at its breaker simply disappears from the boat's screens; see Common mistakes — Frigomar gateway.
