The identifiers a box carries
Every box answers with the same six configuration keys. The first four are read-only and name the product; the last two place it on the bus.
| Key | What it is | Access |
|---|---|---|
ProductId | the finished product — the nine-digit number that says which firmware this box carries | read-only |
HardwareId | the board inside the box | read-only |
SoftwareId | the program | read-only |
SoftwareVersion | the version of that program | read-only |
FonctionGroup | what kind of device this is | read-only |
InstanceNum | which one of them it is | read-write |
These come from the MUXEN ERP, and they are how the Brain knows which firmware belongs in which box.
Read them before touching anything:
sh
muxen-uds -i can0 -d <address> readconfig --only-name ProductId \
--only-name HardwareId \
--only-name SoftwareVersion<address> is the device address — see How a device is addressed for how it is formed.
WARNING
HardwareId does not always separate two boards that look alike. On some lines two boards share one hardware ID, and the software version is the only thing that tells them apart. The product's own manual says which case it is in.
