Reference — Scheiber gateway
The MUXEN devices this gateway publishes
| Device | Function | Instance | What it carries |
|---|---|---|---|
| SFSP receptor | 22 | configured (InstanceNum) | the bridge itself: how many switches are loaded, and the identifier of any unknown switch pressed |
| Emulated switch | 23 | the pairing slot number, 0…62 | one per paired switch: which buttons are down |
| Lighting block | 8 | the Scheiber block's coding number | one per discovered Scheiber SFSP auxiliary block: 6 channels, on/off and dimming |
| Generic I/O | 17 | configured (InstanceNum) | the box's own relays, inputs and analog inputs |
MQTT topics on the Brain follow device/<function>/<instance>/<frame>, so device/23/5/life is the switch paired in slot 5.
Parameters — SFSP receptor (function 22)
| Parameter | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
InstanceNum | 0…62 | 255 | the bridge's own instance; 255 means not addressed |
SfspInter0 … SfspInter62 | 32-bit | 0 | the Scheiber identifier of the switch paired in this slot; 0 = empty. The slot number is the MUXEN instance of that switch |
ProductId, HardwareId, SoftwareId, SoftwareVersion | read-only | see Reference |
Changes to the pairing slots take effect at the next restart — write with --reboot.
Parameters of the generic I/O device are the ones common to every CanCan: Reference.
Routines
| Routine | Payload | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0001 | restore the instance number to its default |
| 1 | any bit above bit 0 | restore every other parameter — erases all pairing |
| 2 | 01 / 00 | report the identifier of every switch pressed, not only unknown ones. Not saved; off after a restart |
Routine 2 replaces the usual "locate" animation on this firmware.
Timings
| Emulated switch published every | 500 ms |
| A button releases itself after | 5 s without a new press event |
| Lighting block state published every | 500 ms |
| A lighting block is forgotten after | 5 s without a life frame |
| Bridge life frame every | 1 s |
The Scheiber side
| Bus | CAN 2, 250 kbit/s, fixed by the firmware |
| Frames read | SFSP switch events from receiver blocks; life and output-state frames from SFSP auxiliary blocks |
| Frames written | output commands to SFSP auxiliary blocks |
| Filtering | none — the gateway listens to the whole bus and picks out what it understands |
| Dimming range | 0…240 (values above 240 are clamped) |
Anything else on the Scheiber bus is ignored.
Limits
| Paired switches | 63 (slots 0…62) |
| Lighting blocks tracked at once | 63 |
| Buttons per switch | 8 |
| Channels per lighting block | 6 |
Known limitations
- The signal-strength field published with an emulated switch carries no meaningful value. Ignore it; the switches are relayed over CAN, not received by radio here.
- The gateway forwards MUXEN lighting commands for any instance to the Scheiber block with that coding number. Lighting instance numbers must not collide with other lighting devices on the boat.
