Reference — Aquabase gateway
The MUXEN devices this gateway publishes
| Device | Function | Instance | What it carries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Watermaker | 20 | configured (InstanceNum), default 0 | the watermaker: mode, salinity, flow, pressures, pumps, valves, hour meter |
| Generic I/O | 17 | configured (InstanceNum), default 255 | the box's own relays, inputs and analog inputs |
MQTT topics on the Brain follow device/<function>/<instance>/<frame>, so a watermaker left on its default instance is device/20/0/life.
What it publishes
device/20/<instance>/life, once a second:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
state, stateCode | what the machine is doing — see the table below |
salinity | salinity measured by the CE62 probe, in ppm |
productionFlow | production flow measured by the FI61 flow meter |
counter | a rolling counter, to tell a fresh message from a repeat |
ProductLiterCmpt, FlowNowRateFromMaxFlow | always 0 — an Aquabase does not report them, keep them off the screens |
device/20/<instance>/state, once a second:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
preFilterPressure | PSn06, pressure before the filter |
postFilterPressure | PSn34, pressure after the filter |
highPressure | PSn43, the high-pressure side, divided by ten before publication |
rinsingValveSte | V17, the rinsing valve |
productionValveSte | V64, the production valve |
lpPumpSte, lpPumpFuseSte | P04, the low-pressure pump, and its breaker |
hpPumpSte, hpPumpFuseSte | P40, the high-pressure pump, and its breaker |
sensorLoopSte | the tank sensor loop of the unit |
hourMeter | the unit's own hour meter |
Machine states
0 standby · 1 production · 2 rinsing · 3 FAS cleaning · 4 membrane cleaning · 5 fault · 6 emergency stop.
Commands
Published to device/20/<instance>/command:
| Payload | Effect |
|---|---|
{"produce":true} | start producing |
{"rinsing":true} | start a rinse |
{"off":true} | back to standby |
Commands are discarded while the unit is absent, and the unit's own controller may refuse them. productionFlowUp and productionFlowDown are not supported by this gateway — see Common mistakes — Aquabase gateway.
Parameters — watermaker (function 20)
| Parameter | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
InstanceNum | 0…62 | 0 | the watermaker's instance. Unlike most CanCan devices it is not 255, so a fresh box publishes as watermaker 0 |
BindToParc | auto | the electrical zone this machine is counted in | |
WatermakerModel | read-only in practice | 2 (Aquabase) | rewritten to 2 at every start; do not change it |
ProductId, HardwareId, SoftwareId, SoftwareVersion | read-only | see Reference |
Changes take effect at the next restart — write with --reboot.
Parameters of the generic I/O device are the ones common to every CanCan: Reference.
Routine 1 is the usual factory reset: 0001 restores the instance number to its default (0 here), any higher bit the other parameters.
Timings
Watermaker life and state published every | 1 s |
| Unit declared absent after | 5 s without its state message |
| Generic I/O published every | 500 ms, and on change |
| Alarms carried at once | 32 |
The Aquabase side
| Bus | CAN 2, 62.5 kbit/s, fixed by the firmware |
| Read | unit state and hour meter, the PSn06 / PSn34 / PSn43 pressures, the FI61 flow meter, the CE62 salinity probe, valve and pump states, rinsing programme, auto-stop settings, unit model |
| Written | standby / production / rinsing commands, auto-stop settings |
| Filtering | none — it listens to the whole bus and picks out what it understands; anything else is ignored |
| Models recognised | ARUBA and SOROYA, Comfort and Premium, read from the unit |
Fault codes reported by the unit
| Code | Fault |
|---|---|
| 1, 2 | high pressure PSn43: pressure fault, sensor electrical fault |
| 5, 6, 7 | post-filter PSn34: low pressure, water, sensor electrical fault |
| 8, 9, 10 | pre-filter PSn06: low pressure, water, sensor electrical fault |
| 11 | dirty filter |
| 15, 16, 17 | pump fault: P04 (low pressure), P40 (high pressure), P52 |
| 19 | valve V48 did not open |
| 21 | overflow |
| 22 | flow meter FI61 |
The alarm code published on the MUXEN bus is one lower than the code above, except for the three pump faults. The alarm therefore reaches the boat's screens under a neighbouring name. Read the code on the Aquabase panel before ordering a part.
Known limitations
- The alarm code shift described above.
- Automatic rinsing programming and the flow-rate commands are not carried, and sending them is not harmless — see Common mistakes — Aquabase gateway.
